London Living Wage

Only the real Living Wage is independently-calculated each year based on what employees and their families need to live.

The current UK Living Wage is £9.75 an hour. The current London Living Wage is £9.75 an hour

Key Terrain Group choose to pay the real Living Wage on a voluntary basis. The rates apply to all workers in recognition that young people face the same living costs as everyone else.

The real Living Wage that meets the cost of living enjoys cross party support, with public backing from successive London Mayors and MPs across the four nations of the UK.

Paying a wage that is enough to live on is good for business, good for the individual and good for society.

The Living Wage Employer Mark and Service Provider Recognition Scheme provide an ethical badge for responsible pay.

The Security Industry Authority is the organisation responsible for regulating the private security industry. They are an independent body reporting to the Home Secretary, under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001.

They have two main duties. One is the compulsory licensing of individuals undertaking designated activities within the private security industry; the other is to manage the voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme, which measures private security suppliers against independently assessed criteria.

SIA licensing covers manned guarding (including security guarding, door supervision, close protection, cash and valuables in transit, and public space surveillance using CCTV), key holding and vehicle immobilising. Licensing ensures that private security operatives are ‘fit and proper’ persons who are properly trained and qualified to do their job. Key Terrain Group ONLY use licensed "fit and proper" staff for our security assignments.

Safe Contractor Scheme

The SafeContractor scheme provides a health and safety audit service for contractors who want to reassure their clients that health and safety is being handled correctly and sufficiently on their sites.

Qualified auditors review health and safety policies, procedures and documentation, taking into consideration trade, industry sector and business size. As a result, safety audits are tailored to assess whether there is suitable and sufficient health and safety compliance within your business.

Key Terrain Group promote our SafeContractor status with the logo and stickers; demonstrating our health and safety compliance to existing and potential clients.

Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS)

In 1997 a group of health and safety and procurement professionals from across Great Britain worked with the Association of London Government (ALG) to develop CHAS. In 2001 CHAS became a web-based system.

CHAS started with two main aims.

To improve health and safety standards across Great Britain.
To reduce duplicated safety applications for both suppliers and buyers.
These days CHAS have more than 870 public and private sector buyer organisations, such as councils, housing associations, NHS trusts, including a growing number of large private companies who employ sub-contractors.

Key Terrain Group Limited are delighted to have been assessed, accredited and members of CHAS.
